A show! A show!
Have you created artwork you want to show to your colleagues? YES!
Here's your chance to submit it to the On My Own Time art exhibit! This event celebrates the creative talent of faculty and staff who are visual artists "on their own time." That's me!
Created in 1974 by the Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse and Onondaga County, On My Own Time is a community arts program that links the business and cultural sectors of Central New York to promote an appreciation of the arts and recognize creativity in the workforce.
In just a little over a week I will be presenting my latest piece, a deconstructed book titled "Faded Fairy Tales", for display in May!

Personal Development
Sketching again.... an ID for my design side. The current business logo is based largely off type. Now that I have my sights set ion Dribble, I need to kick it up a notch and start polishing.

Woodblock Inpsiration
Thank you, Luke Elliott.
And thank you, Dirty Mouse, for leading me there.
And thank you, Inspirational Geek, for showing me the mouse.
Wow. I have a lot of people to thank and I haven't even created anything yet!

Smutty Stuff
You saw my last post with my failed screenprint?
I still want to print on torn out book pages
BUT
I've got more ideas!
The format of my "smut" design lends itself nicely to a wood block print!
AND
I was thinking of doing a Dettmer-esque book autopsy revealing my "smut" design as well - making sure the cut word smut revealed a steamy sex scene!

Don't Panic
Round I of DIY Screen Printing - FAIL
Got myself all excited to try a new method for my creative madness. • Sketched out a witty poster.
• Stretched some hideous red stockings on a frame. •And spent hours in the details. • Only to have it all stick to the glass! (AKA - Bite me in the ass.)
Doing a bit more research (watching more than oneYouTube Instructables video - A gentle touch did NOT do the trick, Mr. Quasiyodel) and buying supplies tonight, (this was supposed to be FREE artistic lovin' *pout* but now my damn muse won't shut up and I gotta shell out some cash.)
*WWII Propaganda reference.

Release the Kraken!
I'm still drawing! (5 min. sharpie sketch)
Inspired by:
• A blank sheet of paper
(I can't stand to see nice paper wasted. This is the back of a tear-away 3 month calendar.)
• Echo Chernik's Cthulhu Series
(I've been watching her wrap up the series on Livestream.)
• Kraken Black Spiced Rum

Sharpen that Pencil!
I mentioned a few goals for the new year, one of them being to sketch more - even if they are just fast and dirty.
Well, I have!
Well, I have!

Requisite Resolutions
Bein' New Years, I guess I best be making a few promises to myself.
• Let the artist out! My fine art side has been dormant for too long. Time to dust off the pencils and get to sketchin'.
• Let the musician out! My poor flute lays in wait at the bottom of my closet. Just gotta locate that Jethro Tull sheet music and ignore the screaming cats.
• Workin' on my fitness! Everyone seems to trend toward health. I've been doing good with pre-work elliptical sessions, but its time to kick it up a notch and include some arm toning.
• Stroke that muse! I gotta write. And more. And frequently. And even if its crap!
CHECK! My first sketch of the year (and a very long time).
