High School Zombies

Yesterday morning I found myself face to face with a classroom of zombies.
And I'm a little pissed off about it.

I guess I should give you a little background information.

Whilst out and about celebrating my best friend's birthday,
I happened upon my old high school art teacher at a bar.
(This is why I hate drinking in my home town!)

She proceeded to tell me how much she missed me
and I proceeded to try and recall anything about her classes.

After torturous minutes of idle drunk chatter she popped the question,
"Would you talk to my students about being a graphic designer?"
*headhitwall*
With a fake smile we exchanged digits and I dreaded the future.

That brings us to yesterday morning,
Where I found myself waxing eloquent about, well, myself
In front of a group of silent, rotting, adolescents.

*sigh*

I don't have a problem with public speaking.
But chirping crickets and glazed eyes are no good for my self-esteem.

Interact with me, dammit!

It ended up turning into a public "conversation" between me and the teacher in front of the audience of 8 students.

In the end I gave up the nice designer routine and started pulling teeth,
requesting each student to answer a question.

*sigh*

It all wrapped up with the teacher confessing she didn't like computers
And half of my awesome graphic design website resources being blocked by the school's auto web admin.

Oh, and she want's me to come back next year and do it again.
*headhitdesk*

  1. Oh, a do over next year... how fun. lol.

I like you're "not books" blog over here. I get over here from time to time and I follow it too, but I always forget the name of it so I never get by here until you post something on the other one like you did your awesome Christmas pics.

I need to get out and about more with the the blog roll. It's one of my goals this year, instead of getting lost with stupid Facebook. Darn thing's become an addiction, and a total time suck. lol, I think I need a support group.

Hope you have a good day dear. =)
